Yesterday was a big day for Kylee! She has been planning on cutting her hair for a while, and we measured it and realized it was long enough to donate to the American Cancer Society to help make wigs for kids. Kylee was very happy at the idea that she is going to help a child with cancer feel better with a new wig. We weren't sure if she'd be ok after she found out HOW short grandma was going to cut it, but grandma showed her- and Kylee was completely excited. She held on tight to a picture of a girl who might get a new wig because of Kylee's donation, and felt great the whole time. Grandma cut off Kylee's ponytail at just over 10 inches, and we all love her new hair cut, especially because it helps out the sweet children who battle cancer. Kylee says she's going to grow it for two more years so she can donate her really long hair again! Here are some before and after pictures...

Anne Marie, your post brings tears to my eyes! What a sweet compassionate girl you are raising. You are such a great mommy to your kids and it is such a blessing to instill these kinds of values into them when they are young. Good job! And Kylee looks adorable with her new haircut. :)
I second everything Andrea said!
I love Kylee's little Posh bob! It's all the rage. She's the hippest kid in preschool now.
Okay, I'm tearing up as well. I just love how much our kids are involved with the cancer stuff we do. And it means something to them on a personal level now. I can't wait to see Ky, and give her a GREAT BIG hug.
Thanks for the sweet comments, guys. I teared up a few times on the drive home with Ky, when she explained exactly how she felt when her hair was being cut off. She said... "I was scared for a second cause my hair was going away, but then I was happy right away because I thought of a little girl who gets to have long hair now." She totally GOT the importance of the whole day, which was really, really sweet. You guys are right, it's important for us mom's to start getting the kids involved with so many important causes NOW... be it cancer, or the heart foundation, or even simply turning off the lights in the house or water in the sink to help the environment. They are little- but they are already making such a great impact on our world!
Mom shared Kylee's story at our Relay For Life Team meeting on Tues. night and passed the pictures around. Everyone was touched by her story. I talked with Kylee about her hair cut on Sunday and I just love how she understands why she did it and how proud she was. Great job MOM :)
